The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board and the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) District 25 have reached an agreement on a new collective agreement for secondary school teachers in the region.
The agreement includes a two-year contract with a 1.5% salary increase for each year, as well as a one-time payment of 0.5% of the employee’s salary in recognition of the province’s elimination of the sick leave gratuity.
The teachers will also receive an increase in their professional development funds, from $550 to $650 per year.

Furthermore, the agreement includes provisions for a joint committee to examine the workload and work-life balance of teachers in the district.
OSSTF District 25 President, Emily McKinney, said in a statement, “This agreement recognizes the important work that our members do every day and the challenges that they face in the classroom. It also reflects the ongoing dialogue between OSSTF and the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, which has allowed us to work together to achieve a fair and equitable agreement for our members.”
The agreement was approved by both the school board and the OSSTF membership in May 2021.
